Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Jason Adams as their lone superintendent finalist.
GRAPEVINE, Texas — Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Jason Adams as their lone superintendent finalist, the district stated in a press release Friday morning.
Dr. Adams will be joining GCISD from Garland ISD, where he is currently the Deputy Superintendent. At Garland ISD his work has contributed to updating district-wide learning strategies, school improvement efforts, and created some of the highest College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) outcomes in North Texas. He also helped to create strong student outcomes while also improving the district’s budget.
A districtwide survey and nine in-person forums were held by the board of trustees, where over 720 community members participated in helping to choose the next superintendent.
“I am honored and humbled to be named the lone finalist for Superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community,” Dr. Adams said. “GCISD’s tradition of excellence, strong community support, and deep commitment to students make this district truly special. I look forward to working collaboratively with the board, staff, families, and community to build on that strong foundation and continue creating opportunities for every student to grow, succeed, and thrive in school and beyond graduation. I am excited to serve the GCISD community and work side by side with stakeholders to continue building on the district’s legacy of excellence.”
Dr. Adams has 28 years of experience in education. He began teaching in Garland ISD, left for Chicago Public Schools, and returned to Garland ISD. Dr. Adams has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Beaver Technology Center. He has also served in administration positions, such as Executive Director of Leadership, supporting principals across the district as they lead improvement efforts.
“The Board of Trustees is thrilled to unanimously welcome Dr. Adams to our district,” Board President Dalia Begin shared. “Throughout this process, his outstanding commitment to students and clear vision for educational excellence truly stood out. We are confident he will build strong relationships with our students, staff, families, and community as we work together to provide exceptional opportunities for every child.”
Texas state law requires a 21-day waiting period before the board can take final action on superintendent approval. The board is expected to take formal action at June 15th’s regular board meeting.
