Grand Parkway construction: What’s proposed on Highway 99

The stretch is in northwest Harris County, connecting I-10 and Highway 290.

HOUSTON — If you drive on a certain section of the Grand Parkway, the Texas Department of Transportation wants your input on making it better.

We’re talking about the stretch of Highway 99 from I-10 to Highway 290 in northwest Harris County. TxDOT is holding a meeting, both in person and virtually, to show proposed improvements to that portion of the Grand Parkway.

In the meeting, TxDOT will share project details and hear from those affected by the changes to the 15-mile stretch of road.

Included in the three-year project – adding one main lane in each direction within the existing median, giving the Grand Parkway three lanes going both north and south. It also includes necessary drainage improvements.

According to TxDOT, that stretch of the Grand Parkway, which is a tollway, will remain a tollway when the work is done.  TxDOT also said no homes or businesses will be displaced.

The meeting is Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Steve Radack Community Center at 18650 Clay Road.
