MISSOURI CITY, Texas — It’s been a busy gator mating season with sightings across Southeast Texas. One spot that we’ve seen plenty of photos and videos of the roaming reptiles is in Sienna.
This week, there were a couple more sightings, including one right outside an elementary school Friday morning. Several people took photos of the gator spotted near Scanlan Oaks Elementary. Kristin Cochran, who captured one of the photos, said the gator walked off on its own after being photographed.
This was her photo from around 6:40 a.m. The gator was spotted right in front of the SOE Field Day sign at Scanlan Oaks!
Earlier that morning, Christina Andrew-Barnett and Ronnie Chapman captured photos of the gator in the street by the school
That wasn’t the only sighting in Sienna in the last couple of days. On Thursday, a much smaller gator was spotted under a car at the Sienna tennis courts, captured in photos by Vivian Ji.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we shared the story of a massive gator walking a golf course in Sienna.
We’ve been reporting on gator sightings around the Houston area for weeks now. They’re out and about because it’s gator mating season, which runs from March 1 through the end of May. So, keep your eyes peeled and watch your step. They’ll likely be more active for at least the next couple of weeks.
