Garland, Texas: Animal control captures 15-foot python

A Garland Animal Control Officer recently captured a 15-foot python after it trapped a man on top of his truck, officials said.

GARLAND, Texas — A 15-foot python that made “multiple strike attempts” was captured by a Garland Animal Control officer, the city said.

Garland Animal Control recently responded to reports of a 15-foot-long reticulated python that was circling a neighborhood yard and trapped a man on top of his truck, the city said in a social media post.

The snake was eventually captured despite its attempts to strike the animal control officer and the formation of a “tense crowd” observing the proceedings, the city said.

The python was safely captured and impounded without incident, according to the post.

“Bravery, compassion, and public safety — that’s what our Animal Control Officers bring every day,” the post reads. “No matter the call, we show up. Because our duty never ends.”
