Garland OKs Atlético Dallas soccer fields lease

The complex will house the team’s training center and offices, as well as eight soccer fields for youth academy play.

GARLAND, Texas — Atlético Dallas, a United Soccer League (USL) set to play its home matches at the Cotton Bowl in 2027, hit another key milestone in the team’s footprint in North Texas.

At the June 17 Garland City Council meeting, officials approved a lease – by an 8-1 vote – for the fields at a proposed multi-use $70 million training facility and youth soccer complex.

The complex is set to be 65 acres at the intersection of President George Bush Turnpike and Holford Road.

The proposed complex would include:

  • Up to eight soccer fields / two futsal courts (APPROVED)
  • A multipurpose building / team headquarters / physical therapy / team store / locker rooms / etc.
  • Potential space for a mixed-use development – Holford Rd improvements and Naaman Forest extension construction

Garland City Council approved the lease for the eight soccer fields and two futsal courts in the June 17 meeting. A lease for the other portions of this complex will be discussed at a later date.

Atlético Dallas will also manage MoneyGram Soccer Park in Northwest Dallas after the city of Dallas voted to make the USL club its new operator, taking over for MLS club FC Dallas, who had managed the park since it opened in 2014.

Atlético Dallas began accepting season ticket deposits for the 2027 season on Wednesday morning.
