Frisco road buckles due to heat, closed for repairs

According to the City of Frisco, the road is expected to reopen by next week.

FRISCO, Texas — The Texas summer heat has caused the streets to buckle in one North Texas neighborhood.

According to the City of Frisco, a section of the road at the intersection of Downbrook Drive and High Meadow Road is closed after “extreme heat” caused the road to buckle, making it unsafe to drive on. The high today was 95°F, which is actually below the normal high of 96°F.

The road is located inside the Trails subdivision. Chopper 8 captured video of the road, showing an excavator next to a hole where the pavement used to be.

As a result, a section of High Meadow Road will be closed as crews make repairs. The city said in a post that the road should be reopened by next week.

In the meantime, drivers are asked to take a detour, using Shiprock Road, Remuda Road and Gladewater Drive to access High Meadow Road.
