Fort Worth’s Sundance Square partners with JLL to bring new shops, restaurants, entertainment downtown

Sundance Square is betting on fresh retail and entertainment options as it looks to build on downtown momentum.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth’s Sundance Square is launching a new retail leasing partnership aimed at bringing additional shops, restaurants and entertainment options to the downtown district.

Real estate services firm JLL announced it will support targeted retail leasing efforts for Sundance Square, the 37-block mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Fort Worth.

According to the company, JLL’s team will oversee leasing efforts for more than 105,000 square feet of available space across the district, focusing on restaurant, retail, arts and entertainment tenants.

Sundance Square has long served as a centerpiece of downtown Fort Worth, combining office space, housing, dining, retail and public gathering areas.

JLL said the district includes 3.7 million square feet of commercial space and remains one of the city’s most visited destinations.

“Sundance Square is where Fort Worth’s western heritage meets modern urban sophistication in perfect harmony,” Michael Wheat of JLL said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with all those involved in ensuring Sundance Square is a vibrant source of culture and entertainment for Fort Worth residents and visitors for decades to come.”

The leasing effort comes as Sundance Square continues to position itself for future growth and evolving consumer trends. Over the past several years, well-known tenants have moved out of Sundance Square, including Reata, improv group Four Day Weekend, Melt Ice Cream, H&M, Revolver Taco and Arcadia Coffee.

The changes have left behind vacant storefronts, although some have recently been filled. Including a music venue called The Spotlight

“We see significant opportunity to further strengthen the tenant mix in ways that reflect both Fort Worth’s identity and evolving consumer demand,” said Ed Kraus, vice president of Sundance Square. “With JLL’s experience and market insight, we’re well-positioned to build on the current momentum.”

Developed in the late 1970s, Sundance Square is one of the best-known destinations in Fort Worth.  It is home to restaurants, bars offices,  iconic architecture and art. Anchored by its two-acre plaza, the district hosts concerts, festivals, markets and community events throughout the year.  Sundance Square is owned by Ed Bass and Sasha Bass.

The new partnership signals an effort to expand offerings and continue attracting visitors to one of downtown Fort Worth’s most recognizable destinations.
