San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg recently hinted that he’s mulling a run for higher office. “I am thinking about the future and what my role will be in politics,” Nirenberg, 48, told the Current following a Pearl Stable town hall last weekend with El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke, San Antonio U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro and Austin state Rep. James Talarico, all high-profile Democrats. “My passion has not gone. No announcements yet, but I’m not done with public service.” Now, unnamed sources tell the San Antonio Report that Nirenberg has his eyes on the governor’s office.
