Demolition is set to begin soon on the former KERA office in Uptown Dallas to make room for a new luxury mixed-use project, expected to include at least one office tower as well as condos and a hotel.

Kaizen Development Partners LLC announced June 24 it closed on the purchase of the 2.3-acre site at 3000 Harry Hines Blvd., called Chalk Hill, and is now proceeding “full steam ahead” with redevelopment. In order to get started on construction, developers have commenced with abating and demolishing the building that was formerly home to North Texas Public Broadcasting Inc., otherwise known as KERA.

Demolition also includes dismantling the nearly 300-foot transmission tower that used to serve the public radio station that is the local affiliate of PBS and NPR. KERA has temporarily relocated to One Arts Plaza in downtown Dallas and has plans to start work on a new permanent facility near Chalk Hill.

Located at the corner of Wolf and North Harwood streets, Kaizen intends for its new development to serve as the “gateway into Uptown,” featuring more than 400,000 square feet of office space, 61 luxury condominiums and multiple restaurants. It will be located near the popular Katy Trail and in close proximity to the terminus of the Dallas North Tollway.
