Dos Lagos Asset LLC plans to transform the Hilton Houston Galleria hotel into the Altura Residences high-rise apartments.

HOUSTON — A former hotel could soon get a second life as a high-rise apartment complex.

The vacant hotel dubbed the “Hilton Houston Galleria” at 6780 Southwest Freeway — which is actually in the Sharpstown area — is slated to begin construction into a high-rise complex in September, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project was expected to cost $40 million at the time of that filing.
