FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — A former Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputy has been indicted on a charge of sexual assault, according to court records.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said Whitney Johnson III had served with them for nearly two years at the time of his arrest.
“The allegation was for off-duty conduct and was investigated by the Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs section and the District Attorney’s Office,” FBCSO said in a news release.
The indictment alleges that Johnson sexually assaulted a woman on May 14. His bond was set at $75,000.
The sheriff’s office said the deputy’s employment was terminated on August 18, the same day he was indicted.
“We hold our employees to the highest standards, and this alleged misconduct is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Eric Fagan said in a news release. “We serve with integrity and pursue justice without exception.”
