AUSTIN (KXAN) — On July 15, a Travis County judge sentenced a former Austin ISD executive in connection with a district theft investigation.
According to court documents, 46-year-old Lynn Brennan was given two years’ deferred adjudication after she entered a guilty plea. During the two years, Brennan must complete 100 hours of community service in addition to other requirements.
In Texas, deferred adjudication is a type of probation that allows the person sentenced to keep the conviction off their criminal record.
Records showed she pleaded guilty to theft of property greater than or equal to $750 but less than $2,500, which is a Class A misdemeanor.
Brennan was formerly Austin ISD’s Executive Director of Compensation and Benefits.
According to court documents, Brennan was initially accused of stealing between $30,000 and $150,000 from the district using gift cards between May 2022 and March 2023.
