HFD said a firefighter on the roof of the home sustained injuries.
HOUSTON — A firefighter was hurt while working to put out a house fire in northwest Houston Friday night, according to the Houston Fire Department.
The fire happened around 9:12 p.m. on Wedgewood Lane off Wirt Road.
HFD said the initial 911 call indicated there may have been a person inside the home, prompting firefighters to make an offensive attack.
During the offensive attack, a firefighter on the roof of the home sustained injuries as she was coming off, HFD said. She was transported to a hospital where she is expected to be OK.
No other injuries were reported in the fire. The injured firefighter had been with HFD for 6 years.
An investigation into the cause of the fire and the injury is underway.
