FedEx layoffs in Plano and Garland, Texas: More DFW job cuts announced

The layoffs will impact 81 employees at the company’s facility on Herrmann Drive in Garland and 50 employees at the FedEx facility on Capital Avenue in Plano.

DALLAS — FedEx is laying off 131 employees at facilities in Garland and Plano, the company announced Friday.

The layoffs will impact 81 employees at the company’s facility on Herrmann Drive in Garland and 50 employees at the FedEx facility on Capital Avenue in Plano, according to a company news release.

The layoffs are part of FedEx’s “network transformation strategy” that the company began in 2022, aimed at improving efficiency across its network.

“These decisions are never made lightly,” a FedEx spokesperson told WFAA. “We’re committed to supporting impacted employees through job placement assistance, relocation aid, or severance. Many will be offered other roles within the company.”

The latest round of layoffs comes just weeks after FedEx announced it was laying off 305 employees at its supply chain logistics facility in Fort Worth.

FedEx has around 15,000 employees in North Texas across 126 facilities.
