Family seeks justice for veteran killed in possible road rage shooting

Family identified 43-year-old Roy Ferrer as the man killed in a possible road rage shooting on Highway 6 near West Bellfort Avenue.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — Family of a man killed in a possible road rage shooting is pleading for the public’s help.

Family said 43-year-old Roy Ferrer was found dead on Highway 6 near West Bellfort Avenue on Saturday, June 21 around noon. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating, but few details have been released so far.

“His mom is hurt, and we are just asking for justice,” said Roy’s sister, Nancy Ferrer Quiroz, who didn’t want to show her face but said her family had great pride in Rory, a U.S. Army veteran.

“He served our country for six years, he did two tours in Iraq, he’s a father of five,” Quiroz said.

Family made a memorial for Ferrer where he was killed. They said Ferrer was on his way to meet a friend on Saturday, but never returned home.

“Anybody who does such a careless act of violence does not deserve to be alive, but it’s something the courts will prevail, in finding out who murdered my brother,” said Roy’s brother, Alexander Ferrer.

He is hoping a witness will come forward with information to help police.

According to the sheriff’s office, there is no description of the suspect or the vehicle at this time.

“Have empathy for another and your fellow human being, place yourself in their shoes, you wouldn’t want someone to not speak up about someone close to you,” Alexander Ferrer said. He and his family are encouraging someone to come forward.
