Falcon Ridge relief: TxDOT to have officers directing traffic

Construction has caused big problems around Falcon Ridge Elementary School. Parents hope a new solution will help.

HUFFMAN, Texas — TxDOT says oy will have officers on site in Huffman after drivers there were caught going the wrong way in a school pickup and drop-off line.

We first told you about it last week after those traffic backups spilled into a construction zone near Falcon Ridge Elementary.

Officers will be directing traffic along FM 2100 by Falcon Ridge Elementary School before school and again after school.

TxDOT provided maps showing where traffic for Falcon Ridge Elementary School will be staged on the closed northbound lanes of FM 2100 starting Tuesday morning.

Officers will control access to the school Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and again 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Last week, parents shared with KHOU 11 how traffic stops around drop-off and pickup times along two-lane FM 2100 in Huffman. Drivers have been seen going the wrong way to get around it, which is dangerous.

During the times that TxDOT doesn’t have officers there, they say they’ll be cutting off access from either direction that would equate to one left turn or one right turn.

Parents can then safely wait to pick up and drop off their children.

TxDOT’s construction project off FM 2100, where it is expanding lanes, is set to be complete by the winter 2026, so parents will still have to deal with the construction for a little while longer.
