Deputies seek more victims of sexual assault suspect Carl Redfield Jr.

Carl Earl Redfield Jr. is facing multiple sex crime charges in Harris County, and authorities say more victims may still be unidentified.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is making a direct appeal to the public following the arrest of 47-year-old Carl Earl Redfield Jr., who now faces multiple felony charges tied to alleged sexual assaults.

Redfield was arrested on July 24 at a car dealership in west Harris County, where he worked. Investigators say the case began last month when a woman came forward with a report of being violently assaulted at Redfield’s apartment in the Cypress area. That report led to the discovery of at least one more alleged victim — and detectives now believe there may be dozens more.

“This is likely just the beginning,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said during a press conference Tuesday. “We know that people like Carl Redfield Jr. try to intimidate their victims to keep them from coming forward — they want you to feel ashamed and afraid. Don’t fall for their lies. If you were harmed by Carl Redfield Jr.’s unspeakable acts, we will stand with you to keep you safe and get you the justice you deserve. You are not alone.”

According to authorities, Redfield used dating apps, frequented bars, and even posed as an attorney to meet and manipulate women. He’s also accused of recording scores of assaults on his phone. So far, law enforcement has recovered videos, digital messages, and witness statements—executing 22 search warrants, including one for Redfield’s residence and another for a DNA sample.

One of the most telling signs of the investigation’s reach came just moments after the press conference ended: a woman called the sheriff’s office, potentially adding to the growing number of victims.

Redfield’s criminal record includes a narcotics trafficking conviction in Indiana, where he worked as a corrections officer, and a domestic violence conviction in Harris County.

He has already appeared in probable cause court and is being held on more than $2.5 million bond. The charges currently filed against him include:

  • Three counts of aggravated sexual assault
  • One count of sexual assault
  • One count of aggravated assault of a family member

Officials believe many victims may be unaware they were recorded or may fear the consequences of coming forward. But investigators say they are committed to treating every report with compassion and respect.

“If you’re out there and have experienced something similar, please know our priority is your safety, your dignity, and your healing,” said Detective Nicholas Cook. “You will be treated with compassion, respect, and without judgment.”
