Denton County deputies fatally shot a man after he allegedly pointed a gun at them while they were serving an arrest warrant.
DENTON COUNTY, Texas — Deputies with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office shot and killed a man Tuesday after he allegedly pointed a gun at them, officials said.
According to a news release from DCSO, deputies were serving an arrest warrant in the 10000 block of Field Lark Lane around 2:45 p.m. when they made contact with Kenneth Wayne Jones, 58.
DCSO said Jones failed to comply with verbal commands and pointed a gun at the deputies, which led them to open fire on him.
The deputies, DCSO said, then performed life-saving measures on Jones until EMS arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
DCSO said no deputies were injured during the shooting.
Details on the arrest warrants being served and the number of deputies involved were not immediately available.
According to DCSO, the case is being investigated by the Texas Rangers.
