Houston police said three people were transported. One of them died.

HOUSTON — At least one person died Thursday in a crash in southwest Houston, according to police.

The crash happened along Fondren Road just north of North Braeswood Boulevard, just after 2 p.m.

Investigators said a vehicle hit a tree and rolled over. The vehicle also took out two power poles, which knocked out power in the area. According to CenterPoint, about 300 customers were left without power.

Houston police officials said three people were taken to area hospitals. One person later died.

Drivers should avoid the area due to street closures while investigators work at the scene. CenterPoint officials said they wouldn’t be able to make necessary repairs until the investigators clear the scene.
