Oscar Sanchez Garcia pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 45 years in prison for each of the three murder charges against him, which are set to run concurrently.
DALLAS — A man was sentenced Monday in connection with the deaths of three women in Dallas in 2023.
Oscar Sanchez Garcia pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison for each of the charges, with the sentences to run concurrently.
Garcia also has a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold, meaning he’s expected to be deported after his time is served.
Garcia was first arrested on July 19, 2023, in connection with the deaths of three women who were all found stabbed in empty fields, as WFAA previously reported. The case meets the definition of a serial killer, but the Dallas Police Department said it doesn’t use that term in investigations.
The body of the first woman, identified as Kimberly Robinson, 60, was found April 22, 2023, in the 200 block of Santa Fe Avenue near the intersection of North Corinth Street Road and East Clarendon Drive in southern Dallas, as we previously reported.
Two months later, the body of the second woman, 25-year-old Cherish Gibson, was found in the same area, also stabbed, according to previous reports.
Then, July 15, 2023, the body of a third woman, later identified as 31-year-old Debrenese Janey Henry, was found stabbed in a field less than five miles from where the other two women were found.
Garcia was connected to the crimes using phone data, surveillance footage and DNA from sexual assault kits, as we previously reported.
Garcia had previously been arrested in Dallas for allegedly beating his girlfriend on March 13, 2023, before the bodies were found, as WFAA previously reported.
During his trial Monday, family members of the three women read victim impact statements. Garcia looked down, never looking up at the witness stand.
Gibson’s sister said she had so much hatred for “a man who means nothing but whose actions changed everything.”
Another told him he is not even supposed to be in the United States. Several of them said they felt the sentence was too short. “Justice for me is you staying locked up forever. 45 years is definitely not enough.”
Kimberly Robinson’s niece told him “You don’t deserve to be on this earth at all.”
