Dallas police seek driver in 2022 homicide case

Police said the owner of the car was not the one driving it at the time of the incident.

DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a car linked to a 2022 homicide investigation.

According to police, on Dec. 13, 2022, officers responded to a shooting in the 4600 block of Spring Garden Avenue at about 11:22 p.m. Upon arrival, police said officers found 19-year-old Davarcia Forney shot inside a home. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded, but Forney died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation, Dallas PD said, showed that an unknown suspect shot Forney and left the scene.

More than two and a half years later, police released surveillance video showing a red car driving in the area. Investigators said the vehicle’s owner was not behind the wheel at the time of the shooting and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver, though the footage does not show the individual.
