ARLINGTON, Texas — Summer months mean sun, heat and blood shortages, according to Medical City Healthcare. That’s why the healthcare providor is holding over a dozen blood drives this summer to help meet the need.
In partnership with the American Red Cross and Carter BloodCare, Medical City will host 19 blood drives across North Texas this summer, officials said.
Summer months often see blood shortages becuase of decreased donations and increased demand, according to a press release from Medical City Healthcare.
“Just as our hospitals never close, the need for lifesaving blood is constant,” Allen Harrison, president of Medical City Healthcare, said in a press release.
Type O blood and platelet donors are particularly essential, the release states.
Medical City will host a blood drive starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 17 in Arlingtion. Healthy donors above the age of 16 can sign up for that blood drive and other blood drives, including:
