LIBERTY HILL, Texas (KXAN) — The city of Liberty Hill will host a town hall this evening for its residents to learn more about a new water purification program that will help supply the community with water for the foreseeable future.
The water purification program, called Pure Water LHTX, will use “advanced water purification technology” that purifies recycled water to help support Liberty Hill’s growth and reduce any dependence on other entities.
The town hall is at Liberty Hill Learning and Events Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Liberty Hill’s Public Works Director Jacob Parsons said they will pilot two different systems for the next eight months to see what works best for the city. After the pilot program, the city will construct a full-scale facility expected to begin operations in 2030.
“One’s going to be the reverse osmosis [system], and the other one’s going to be carbon based filtration system,” Parsons said. “
Liberty Hill Mayor Crystal Mancilla said that this program is essential to making sure Liberty Hill’s water supply keeps up with the growth in the city.
“We became the fastest growing city in Williamson County, and have stayed there for about three years,” Mancilla said. “This is something that we know is going to be one of our solutions—one of many—but one very important key to providing long term water for the residents of Liberty Hill.”
