The ban would be for sidewalks in downtown and in the East End and would be in effect 24/7.
Right now, people are not allowed to sit or sleep on City of Houston sidewalks between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., but it’s only for certain areas of the city.
According to the Office of Emergency Management, Mayor John Whitmire is on board with the proposal.
