Another lawsuit has been filed against Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, alleging they failed to disclose public records and misled the public.
CARROLLTON, Texas — Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD) is being sued again after its Board of Trustees voted to close four schools, alleging the the district intentionally withheld information from parents before it voted.
The lawsuit, filed this month on behalf of a coalition of 13 parents, alleges that school officials and trustees “violated state transparency and nepotism laws — actions they say directly contributed to the controversial and disruptive closure of four public schools.”
In March, the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Board of Trustees voted to close four schools: Central Elementary, McCoy Elementary, Furneaux Elementary and Long Middle School, WFAA previously reported.
The first lawsuit against the district was filed in March shortly after the vote by another parent alleging the same thing.
This new lawsuit further alleges that “school officials and trustees violated state nepotism laws by hiring or promoting family members into newly created or elevated positions with significant pay raises — without proper disclosure or abstention from related votes.”
The 13 parents are seeking injunctive relief and removal of several board members and the superintendent.
WFAA reached out to CFBISD for comment and received the following statement:
“The district has received a lawsuit and does not comment on pending litigation.”
