Caldwell County constable finds bags of 'discarded animal remains'

AUSTIN (KXAN) — While on patrol July 26, a Caldwell County constable found multiple bags of animal remains left on the side of a road, according to the Caldwell County Constable’s Office.

The constable was in Precinct 4 of the county when they found litter piled near a culvert.

The agency said the remains were of pets, but didn’t elaborate further in its post.

“The level of disregard and cruelty it takes to leave pets in bags on the side of the road is beyond heartbreaking. This is not just illegal—it’s inhumane,” the constable’s office said.

In Texas, state law establishes several criminal offenses related to animal cruelty, including killing or confining an animal in a cruel manner. The severity of these offenses range from misdemeanors to third-degree felonies.

The constable’s office asked for anyone with information to call its office at 512-359-4698.

“Let’s work together to bring justice and ensure this never happens again,” it said.
