Trinity Bay Conservation District issues a boil water notice due to a main water line break, affecting several residential areas.
ANAHUAC, Texas — Trinity Bay Conservation District issued a boil water notice for customers in several residential areas Monday afternoon, including Audrey Lane, Highway 61, and Airport Road, after reduced distribution system pressure prompted the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to require the precautionary measure.
The water district posted on social media earlier Monday that a contractor had struck a main water line.
The notice affects customers on Audrey Lane, Highway 61, Lane 1, Lane 2, Lane 3, Poskey Road, Belton Lane, and Airport Road served by the Trinity Bay Conservation District – West Public Water System. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality mandated the boil water advisory due to reduced distribution system pressure, which can allow harmful bacteria to enter the water supply.
All customers in the affected areas must boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking, washing hands and face, brushing teeth, or making ice. The district emphasizes that “children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.”
Boiling instructions and alternatives
To ensure water safety, the district instructs customers to bring water to a vigorous rolling boil and continue boiling for two minutes before cooling and using for consumption. Alternatively, residents can purchase bottled water or obtain water from another suitable source for drinking and human consumption.
The conservation district will notify customers when the boil water notice is no longer necessary and will issue a formal rescission notice using similar communication methods.
Sample collection and testing
Trinity Bay Conservation District will collect bacteriological samples from the affected area on Tuesday with results expected within 24 hours of collection.
The district urges customers to “share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses).”
