Online video shows the hometown superstar suspended in a red car while performing “16 Carriages.” As she was high up in the air, the car apparently became stuck.
HOUSTON — Fans packed a sold-out NRG Stadium Saturday night for the first of two Beyoncé concerts. The Houston stop of the “Cowboy Carter” tour thrilled the Beyhive, but also came with a heart-stopping moment for the hometown superstar and her fans.
During her performance of the song “16 Carriages,” the Houston Chronicle reports that the red car Beyoncé was seated in, suspended high inside the stadium, became stuck. That’s when you can hear her call out, “Stop, stop, stop, stop…”
Video of the scare was posted all over social media by fans who could tell something wasn’t right.
The music stopped and the car was slowly lowered down for Beyoncé to get out.
After she was safely on the ground, more video shows Beyoncé calling out to the crowd, “I want to thank y’all for loving me. Because if I fall, I know y’all will catch me.”
She then continued on with the song.
At this point, it’s not clear how the apparent malfunction happened. As we learn more, we’ll post it here.
