The new route to the popular South American business destination runs four days per week.
DALLAS — A new nonstop route between DFW Airport and a popular South American destination launched this week.
Colombian-based airline Avianca this week launched nonstop service between DFW and Bogotá, operating four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The new route offers more than 1,400 weekly seats on Airbus A320 planes, according to a press release.
Avianca operates one of the largest networks in Latin America, and offers 150 routes, more than 700 daily flights, and has a fleet of 140 Airbus A320 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes, according to the press release. With the launch of the new route, Avianca operates 19 direct routes between the U.S. and Colombia.
“With the launch of this important new nonstop route between Bogotá and Dallas, we’re expanding travel options for our passengers, now offering 43 routes to the United States from Colombia, Central America, and Ecuador,” said Avianca CEO Frederico Pedreira. “We now serve 14 U.S. destinations: New York, Washington, Ontario, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.”
Avianca was founded in 1919 and is the leading airline in Colombia, Ecuador and Central America, according to a press release.
“The launch of the direct route between Dallas and Bogotá marks an important step in strengthening the longstanding, deep and dynamic relationship between Colombia and the United States. This new connection will foster greater exchange, bringing more travelers, entrepreneurs, and opportunities in both directions, and reflects the growing importance of bilateral tourism and business ties,” said Andrés Fernando Diez Martínez, Consul of Colombia in Dallas.
