Austin police looking for suspect accused of assaulting bus passenger in June

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department asked for the public’s help identifying a suspect who allegedly assaulted a CapMetro bus passenger last month.

According to APD, the suspect assaulted the passenger while she was scanning her bus pass at a stop in the 300 block of Lavaca Street around 3 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

Police said a “Good Samaritan” was able to stop the assault and “removed the suspect from the bus.”

The suspect was described by APD as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male who has tattoos on his right arm and abdomen. Police said he “appeared to be under the influence of narcotics prior to the attack.”

Anyone with any information may submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
