Angel Alonso was identified as the victim, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 19-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle along Interstate 30 early Saturday morning, and a 33-year-old woman faces a DWI charge, police said.

Angel Alonso was identified as the victim, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Brittani Watkins, the driver who crashed into Alonso, was arrested after police said officers suspected she may have been intoxicated.

Police said Alonso crashed into an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder of I-30, near Baird Farm Road, around 3:50 a.m. Saturday. Alonso got out of his truck and tried to use his cell phone light to direct traffic around the wreck, according to police. At some point, Watkins, who was driving a 2014 Lexus, crashed into Alonso and his truck, which were in the main lanes of the highway, police said.

Alonso died at the scene. Watkins and a male passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

While Watkins currently faces a DWI charge, police said additional charges are pending.
