Arlington PD: 5 suspects charged in double murder

Two teenagers were killed last November at a short-term rental unit near AT&T Stadium, police said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Five suspects have been charged this week in connection with the killing of two teens last November at a short-term rental unit in Arlington, police say.

Three suspects, 18-year-old Chrisaveon Whitted, 19-year-old Eddie Walker Jr. and 21-year-old Demarion Owens, were arrested Wednesday by Arlington PD Swat and the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, officials say. A fourth suspect, 26-year-old Diamond Curttie, was arrested Thursday by Dallas police, according to officials.

A fifth suspect, 20-year-old Shannon Steele, was already in custody in the Dallas County Jail for an unrelated offense, police say.

All five suspects have been charged with capital murder, police say.

The incident occurred on the evening of Nov. 25 last year at the Stadium 700 apartment complex near AT&T Stadium, police said. Upon arrival, both victims were found fatally shot.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and medics rushed the woman to the hospital, according to a press release. She died an hour later at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, according to county records.

Neither victim lived at the apartment complex, officials say. The 19-year-old man had rented the unit through a short-term rental site, police said.

Witnesses told police at the time they heard gunshots and saw a group of people run away from the direction of the apartment and drive away in a vehicle, the release states.

The Stadium 700 apartment complex is a popular short-term rental location because of its proximity to AT&T Stadium.
