KILGORE, Texas — Officials confirmed the driver of an Amazon 18-wheeler fell asleep at the wheel, causing the truck to go off a bridge and break its trailer on Interstate 20 in Gregg County.
According to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck occurred in the westbound lanes at Rabbit Creek between FM 2087 and Hwy. 31. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says an Amazon 18-wheeler went over a concrete barrier and rolled off a bridge. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Drivers will be diverted at mile marker 591 and FM 2087.
TxDOT expects the roadway to be cleared around 1 p.m. Albritton estimated the lanes could be open by evening rush hour.
