WASHINGTON — Actor Donald Gibb, who appeared in scores of movies and television shows and is best known for “Revenge of the Nerds,” has died at age 71, according to reports.

Gibb had a handful of roles in the early 1980s — including in the TV shows “Simon & Simon” and “The A-Team” and uncredited roles in the movies “Stripes” and “Conan the Barbarian” — before he got his break in “Revenge of the Nerds” in 1984. He attended the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship, then played football and basketball at the University of San Diego. He had a roster spot on the San Diego Chargers before his acting career took off, according to IMDB.
