ATLANTA — Sources tell 11Alive a law enforcement officer as died following an active shooter situation on the Emory Atlanta Campus Friday. The Atlanta Police Department confirmed a suspect — a single shooter — is dead.
While the shelter-in-place order has been lifted, authorities are still telling people to avoid the area. Emory officials shared around 5 p.m. that there was an active shooter on the Emory Atlanta Campus at Emory Point CVS.
NBC News reported that a DeKalb County law enforcement officer was hurt during the incident. The news outlet reported the officer was taken to Emory University Hospital.
Initially, Emory officials shared on X to “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT” and told people to “avoid the area.”
Emory College of Arts and Sciences re-shared the same post. There is still a massive police presence near the area.
Our crews on the scene spotted multiple agencies responding. FBI Atlanta also went to the scene. GDOT cameras and 11Alive SkyTracker also show law enforcement with streets blocked.
