AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a Saturday press release that the Texas Division of Emergency Management, or TDEM, will ask the White House to add five counties affected by recent floods to President Donald Trump’s major disaster declaration.
“Texas continues to rebuild and recover following recent catastrophic flooding,” Abbott said. “Today, I requested that additional counties be added … to ensure affected communities receive the assistance needed to respond and move forward. We will help all of our communities through the recovery process.”
Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch and Tom Green counties were named in the release. Initially, the declaration only included Kerr County. Abbott also requested the addition of San Saba, Travis and Williamson counties last week.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s website, the declaration as of its last update on July 10 included Kerr, Kendall, Kimble, Menard and San Saba counties as receiving individual and public assistance. Residents in Burnet, Travis, Tom Green and Williamson counties can receive individual assistance.
