Mays will lead the association through June 2026.
COPPELL, Texas — Coppell Mayor Wes Mays has been named president of the Metroplex Mayors Association, a coalition of North Texas mayors who meet regularly to discuss regional issues and collaborate on initiatives that benefit their communities, the city announced Tuesday.
Mays will serve a two-year term through June 2026. Mayor Jeff Bickerstaff of Sachse was selected as the group’s vice president.
In a news release from the City, Mays said he was honored by the appointment and emphasized the importance of working together to achieve goals.
“As we head into the future, it is more important than ever that we as mayors collaborate across jurisdictions and build relationships with one another,” Mays said in the news release. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with this great organization and to learn from my peers.”
The City said Mays’ new role is expected to not only help elevate Coppell but also strengthen ties among other parts of the region, benefiting North Texas as a whole.
Mays succeeds Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth as the group’s president.
