Sanders was pulled over early Tuesday morning on I-71 in Strongsville for driving 101 mph. He also received a speeding ticket 12 days earlier in Medina County.
CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders received a speeding ticket from the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Medina County 12 days before he was cited for driving 101 mph on Interstate 71 north in Strongsville, according to records.
Medina Municipal Court records show that Sanders was issued a citation for “speed limits” on June 5 by the OSHP.
According to 3News media partner Cleveland.com, Sanders was pulled over at 5:13 p.m. on I-71 south in Brunswick Hills Township. He was driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone.
Sanders did not appear for his scheduled court appearance on June 16 and will be required to pay $269 in fees.
3News has reached out to the OSHP for additional information about the traffic stop.
The Browns told 3News that they have addressed the citations with Sanders directly and “the tickets will be handled by him in the appropriate manner.”
THE STRONGSVILLE TICKET
According to a copy of the citation obtained by 3News, a Strongsville police officer clocked Sanders going 41 mph over the posted speed limit at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday morning. Authorities stopped Sanders’ black Dodge Ram TRX near the Ohio Turnpike bridge, with body camera footage showing the officer speaking to Sanders as he sat in the truck and informing him he was speeding.
The officer issued Sanders a ticket and let him go on his way. 3News has since confirmed that Sanders paid his fine in Strongsville and the case is listed as closed.
Sanders, an All-American in college at Colorado, was projected as a high-round pick in the NFL draft this past spring before free-falling to Cleveland in the fifth round. The 23-year-old son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders (his head coach with the Buffaloes) has impressed onlookers with his raw talent, but essentially remained fourth on the team’s depth chart during mandatory minicamp last week, behind veteran Joe Flacco, former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, and 2025 third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.
The Strongsville police report notes that a second woman was pulled over along with Sanders, identified as his girlfriend Jasmine Hammond. Her green Genesis was clocked going 92 mph, per the officer, but she did not receive a ticket.
Sanders’ Ram was registered in Colorado while his driver’s license was issued in Mississippi. While authorities noted his license is valid, it’s unknown if he had any other points on his driving record besides the Medina County citation.
According to Ohio law, driving 30 mph over any posted speed limit can be a four-point offense.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story indicated that Sanders received his ticket in Medina County on June 6. The story has been amended to reflect that the date was on June 5.
