Dallas Animal Services is launching its own summer blockbuster event, aiming to find homes for 1,200 pets by the end of July.
DALLAS — July is a time for summer blockbusters, and Dallas Animal Services is launching a movie-themed adoption event to save pets’ lives.
With summer in full swing and shelter space at a premium, Dallas Animal Services is calling on residents to take part in a lifesaving mission. The department launched “Mission Pawsible” on Monday, a month-long adoption and foster campaign aimed at getting 1,200 pets into loving homes by the end of July.
“We know Dallas doesn’t back down from a challenge,” said DAS Director Paul Ramon. “Last year, our community adopted more than 12,000 pets, and we’re counting on that same spirit to help us reach our goal this July.”
Mission Pawsible is part of DAS’s Dallas90 initiative, which works to maintain a 90% save rate for shelter animals. July typically brings the shelter’s highest intake numbers, prompting an increase in adoption efforts.
Adoptions are free throughout July, and thanks to support from Friends of Dallas Animal Services, the first 1,200 adopters will receive limited-edition Mission Pawsible T-shirts. Other incentives include:
- A “Community Challenge” raffle for pet-themed gift baskets
- Themed weekends with giveaways and adoption spotlights
- Pet profiles highlighting adoptable animals
- A live “Mission Dashboard” tracking progress toward the 1,200-adoption goal
Anyone interested in adopting can visit BeDallas90.org or stop by Dallas Animal Services at 1818 N. Westmoreland Road, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
