A fire at a local junkyard prompts major emergency response and road closure on the North Freeway.
SPRING, Texas — A fire at a local junkyard along the North Freeway triggered a major emergency response Tuesday afternoon, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
Deputies said the fire broke out near Spring Cypress and the northbound North Freeway feeder road.
Due to heavy smoke and safety concerns, the northbound feeder at Spring Cypress and the North Freeway has been temporarily shut down, officials said. The closure is intended to protect the public and allow emergency vehicles better access to the scene, Precinct 4 said.
Deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office are on site, assisting with traffic control and perimeter safety while the Spring Fire Department works to contain the fire.
Drivers in the area are urged to avoid the northbound feeder near Spring Cypress until further notice.
