AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Transportation entered a new phase of its Oak Hill Parkway construction project this week.
Starting Wednesday, drivers will no longer be able to take a left onto Convict Hill Road from Westbound US 290. And drivers headed toward US 290 along Convict Hill Road will only be able to take a right, eliminating the option to turn left onto 290.
Drivers will likely see an increase in traffic along FM 1826 and William Cannon Drive as a result of this closure.
Another change for Oak Hill drivers along westbound US 290: Traffic will shift onto new frontage road pavement between Oak Meadow Drive and RM 1826.
The Oak Hill Parkway construction project in Southwest Austin will add two to three lanes on US 290 in each direction between Mopac and Circle Drive.
TxDOT is also constructing a flyover at US 290 and Hwy 71, removing traffic lights at William Cannon Dr, Convict Hill Rd, RM 1826, Scenic Brook Dr and Circle Dr.
Construction is expected to wrap up in 2026.
