AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man accused of setting fire to a Wimberly bar last weekend was arrested in Buna, Texas, in Jasper County, on Monday, according to a social media post from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard wrote that his deputies aided the Hays County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Texas Rangers in serving a warrant on a residence in the 500 block of County Road 737 in Buna.
Aiden Dwyer, 24, of San Marcos was then “taken into custody,” according to the post. He was held at the Jasper County Jail following his arrest, but will be transferred to Hays County.
While Hays County court records don’t yet show case information for Dwyer, Havard wrote that the arrest was part of an investigation related to a fire at Savage’s Bar and Grill in Wimberly, Texas.
One person was injured in the fire, according to JCSO.
The fire came days before Tuesday, which was to be the bar’s last day, according to a June 3 Facebook post on the business’ page.
“With tears and a heavy heart, we are very sad to announce that Savage’s Hill Country Bar & Grill will no longer be in business effective July 1st, 2025,” the post reads. “It has been my great honor and pleasure to serve you! Thank you for helping my dream come true…..even if only for a short while!”
The investigation is on-going and being conducted by the Texas Rangers and the Hays County Fire Marshal’s Office.
