An 18-year-old accidentally shot himself, injuring another teen, at a Houston apartment complex, police say.
HOUSTON — Two teenagers were injured Monday evening in what police are calling an accidental shooting in south central Houston.
It happened at an apartment complex on Windbern Street at Tierwester Street.
The incident occurred at 8:45 p.m. when an 18-year-old accidentally shot himself in the arm, according to a spokesperson with the Houston Police Department. The bullet then traveled and grazed a 14-year-old in the neck.
Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department and Precinct 6 officers responded to reports of the shooting. Both victims had injuries, with the younger victim suffering a graze wound to the neck and the older victim wounded in the arm. Both were taken to the hospital and expected to be ok.
The Houston Police Department is handling the investigation.
No additional details about the circumstances leading to the accidental discharge or the condition of the victims have been released at this time.
