Houston family arrested in dollar store robberies

A family tied to six armed robberies are now behind bars according to the Houston police

HOUSTON — A Houston family is in custody this afternoon, accused of carrying out a series of armed robberies targeting dollar discount stores across Houston’s south side, according to investigators with HPD.

Houston police say Deron Whittle, his wife Jennifer Whittle, and her 19-year-old son Gavin Harper have been linked to at least six armed robberies at Family Dollar and Dollar General locations. The arrests come after investigators used undercover surveillance on the suspects.

Prosecutors allege the trio used a strategic approach: driving to various stores and waiting in a getaway vehicle while Harper entered and robbed the businesses at gunpoint.

Jennifer Whittle faces charges of engaging in organized crime. Her husband and son are both charged with robbery and engaging in organized crime.

Bond for Jennifer Whittle has been set at $75,000. Deron Whittle’s bond is $150,000, and Gavin Harper’s is $130,000.
