AT&T settlement: Who’s eligible, how much they’ll get and when they get paid

The settlement stems from two data breaches and how it affected customers.

HOUSTON — AT&T customers, you might be sitting on a payday without even knowing it. This stems from more than 50 class action lawsuits, many of them filed right here in Texas. So we’re taking a look at who’s eligible and how they get that money.

The lawsuits claim AT&T failed to properly secure its customers’ personal information, like Social Security numbers, passcodes, and call logs during two data breaches. One was in 2019. Another was in 2024.

The company denied any wrongdoing and has agreed to pay a $177 million settlement to resolve the claims.

If you suffered out of pocket losses that can be linked to either breach, like identity theft, fraud charges, or monitoring costs, you may be eligible for up to $5,000. That range goes from $2,500 up to $5,000. And to get that money, you’ll need to provide some supporting documentation when you file a claim.

The claims window opens on August 4 and runs through November 18. When the official website goes live next month for the settlement claims, it will include a claim form and instructions on how to file. A final approval hearing is set for December 3, and payments are expected to go out early next year.
