Fans flock from far and wide to witness Beyoncé’s concerts in Houston

Fans came from all over the country – and all over the world – to watch Beyoncé take the stage Saturday night at NRG Stadium.

HOUSTON — Beyoncé fans came from far and wide to witness the superstar at NRG Stadium Saturday night for her Cowboy Carter Tour.

The first of two sold-out shows in H-Town turned into a true Houston homecoming — and no one wanted to miss it. The energy was electric as the BeyHive showed up and showed out.

“It’s Houston! It’s her hometown. She’s going to show out!” Katreece Williams, who drove more than 15 hours from North Carolina to see the show, said.

Everyone dressed to impress, with a sea of sequins and cowboy hats visible from Air 11. Fans got in “Formation,” making it clear that they were all “Crazy in Love” with Queen B.

“I love Beyoncé so much,” Houston resident Tamia Evans said. “She just makes me so empowered and just feel like a woman, a diva, I love it, I love it so much.”

For many fans, Beyoncé’s return to her hometown was more than just another concert; it was personal.

“Especially because we’re from the same side of town, same neighborhood and everything,” Houston resident Miayan Tatum said. “It’s just like your cousin or your auntie or somebody coming back and just a big family reunion.”

While some fans were seasoned Beyoncé concertgoers and hyped to experience some form of “Déjà Vu,” others witnessed her magic for the first time.

“This is my first concert,” Beaumont resident Lea Andrews said.

Leading up to the show, fans flocked to Houston’s Third Ward to pose in front of a massive Beyoncé mural at Grooves of Houston. They wanted to snap some pictures in their best Cowboy Carter getup.

“I chose to do the denim on denim on denim look,” North Carolina resident Chavela House said.

“This is the queen’s hometown, and that’s what we do,” added fellow North Carolina visitor Sebrina Davis. “We’ve been fans for a long time. We are the Hive.”

And Beyoncé’s reach for her Houston homecoming concert did not stop at state lines or even national borders. Luis Broa traveled all the way from Mexico to be part of the experience.

“I came for Renaissance like two or three years ago, and I’m a really big fan,” Broa said. “So, I think I’m going to go to Act I, Act II and Act III, and I’m really excited.”

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour continues with a second show at NRG Stadium on Sunday night. Doors open at 7 p.m.
