ANNA, Texas — The City of Anna announced Friday its city manager, Ryan Henderson, would be stepping down effective Oct. 24.
An acting city manager will be named and the city will start a national search to permanently step in as the next city manager, officials said in a release.
Henderson was appointed city manager in October 2023 after serving as interim city manager. He first joined the City of Anna in 2019 as assistant to the city manager.
“Ryan’s leadership came at a fundamental time in our city’s history,” said Anna Mayor Pete Cain. “He guided Anna through a period of transformational growth while keeping our organization grounded in the values of service, integrity and community. He has been a dependable, humble leader who truly lived out our commitment to our neighbors.”
The city said, during Henderson’s tenure, they finalized agreements with Liberty Hills, Sherley Farms, Oak Ridge, Ana Capri North, and Rockhill, adding more than 3,000 acres of planned residential and commercial development.
“These agreements not only expanded Anna’s footprint but ensured long-term fiscal health by eliminating the risk of Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) and facilitating smooth annexation,” city officials said in a release.
Henderson also oversaw the completion of several multi-million-dollar capital improvement projects that have reshaped the landscape of Anna. Among them are:
- The Hurricane Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility,
- Fire Station II
- Major roadway expansions and improvements on Rosamond and Hackberry
- Enhancements to Slayter Creek Park
“I’m honored to have been part of this team at this moment in Anna’s history,” said Henderson. “Anna is an extraordinary community. It’s been a privilege to serve alongside colleagues who care deeply about our neighbors and about doing the right thing, the right way. I want to thank every single councilmember I had the pleasure to serve for and the vision they set forth.”
