3 in custody after man shot multiple times on St. Emmanuel Street, HPD says

The Houston Police Department said the three suspects had gotten into an argument with the victim before the shooting.

HOUSTON — Three people are in custody after police said they shot a man multiple times in downtown Houston early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened around 1:50 a.m. on St. Emmanuel Street near Walker Street.

The Houston Police Department said the three suspects had gotten into an argument with the victim, a man in his late 30s or early 40s, in the street before the shooting happened. After the shooting, HPD said the suspects took off on scooters before officers tracked them down and took them into custody.

HPD said charges will be filed against the three.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he is expected to survive.

Police said the victim did not know the suspects.

Investigators were working to gather statements from witnesses to piece together what led up to the shooting.
