American Airlines technology issue caused flight delays, now resolved, per AA

American Airlines said the issue has since been resolved.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth-based American Airlines confirmed a technology issue affected connectivity for some of the airline’s systems Friday, leading to flight delays.

The airline said in a statement that it worked with partners to resolve the issues and “the applications that our customers and teams use are now back up and fully operational.”

“A technology issue impacted connectivity for some of our systems earlier today. We worked with our partners to resolve the issue and the applications that our customers and teams use are now back up and fully operational. Though we have experienced delays as a result, we have not canceled any flights at this time. We apologize to our customers for their experience,” the statement read.

FlightAware data showed 32% of American Airlines flights were delayed, or 1,194 flights, and 2% were canceled, or 98 flights, as of 4 p.m.

PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, as CNN reports, had 35% of its flights delayed, or 272 flights, and 13% canceled, or 102 flights, according to FlightAware data

At DFW Airport, where American Airlines is headquartered, there were 570 total delays reported as of shortly before 4 p.m. Friday, and 19 total cancellations, according to FlightAware. It’s unclear how many of the delays may have been related to the technology issue.

DFW Airport referred questions about the issue to the airline.
