Houston Airports ready for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour

Both Hobby and George Bush Intercontinental Airports are expecting one of the busiest non-holiday weekends of the summer, starting Thursday.

HOUSTON — Beyoncé is coming home and Houston is rolling out the red carpet!

As Queen Bey prepares to bring her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter Tour to NRG Stadium this weekend, the city’s airports are already feeling the buzz and bracing for a surge in travelers.

Both Hobby and George Bush Intercontinental Airports are expecting one of the busiest non-holiday weekends of the summer, starting Thursday.

To welcome the Beyhive, the airports have transformed parts of their terminals into themed pop-up installations called the “Cowboy Carter Corners.”

These installations are complete with Beyoncé trivia on giant screens, selfie stations and plenty of Instagrammable moments.

“All right, so right now I am setting up props for our Cowboy Corner activation,” said Simone Wilson, a marketing manager with Houston Airports. “We wanted to welcome our passengers, give them their first taste of the Houston community. When you get off the plane, you are in Houston. Beyoncé never forgot Houston and Houston never forgot Beyoncé.”

Travelers are loving the tribute.

“I think it’s fabulous,” said one fan while wearing a cowboy hat and snapping selfies.

The airport’s social media team has even posted a playful image of Beyoncé’s towering silhouette cast over the terminals, signaling her symbolic return.

Airport officials are urging anyone flying in or out of Houston this weekend to arrive early and prepare for crowds.

Officials see the Beyoncé weekend as more than just a concert — it’s also a test run for the 2026 World Cup, when Houston will again host global crowds.

“So, if we think about the World Cup and the Beyoncé concert, you know you’re gonna have back to back nights down there we’re gonna have 70 thousand people at NRG gonna be very similar to when we have the soccer, we’re gonna have alot of people coming in from out of town,” said Jim Szczesniak, Director of Aviation for the Houston Airport System.

For now, Houston is ready for a full-on Beyoncé celebration.
